A. R. Raazol · paintings
Original paintings · fluid acrylic on canvas

Under the microscope. Through the telescope.

Paintings in which cells, tissue and nebulae form on their own as layers of paint settle and part. Made for people who spend their days looking closely at living things. Each work is unique, signed and sold with a certificate of authenticity.

How the cells appear

Painted with physics

Rayleigh–Taylor instabilityDenser pigment sinks through lighter layers and breaks the surface into cells, the way fluids of different density mix in nature.
Marangoni flowDifferences in surface tension pull the paint outward and open membranes, lacing and voids.
ViscosityEach pour is mixed to its own consistency, so it sets in tight clusters or long laminar currents.

For practices, clinics & laboratories

Commissions are open for a painting in the palette of your practice or your field. Invoices are issued in the name of your practice or company. In France, companies that buy original works by living artists may qualify for a tax deduction (CGI article 238 bis AB). Ask your accountant whether it applies to your structure.

The artist

A. R. Raazol

I pour, and then I let the physics decide. What appears is often closer to a microscope slide than to anything I could have drawn.

A. R. Raazol is a painter, writer and independent thinker whose work moves between visual art and literature. His paintings start from a simple observation: the same patterns repeat at every scale, from a cell to a nebula.

He works from his studio in Normandy, on canvases he prepares himself, sealing each finished work with a protective varnish so its colour holds.
